along With The Big Couple Of The Year.  

Mr. Jim Laurent and Mrs. Beverly Morrison have been awarded Big Brother & Big Sister of the Year. The Big Couple of the Year goes to Mr. & Mrs. Craig Waters.

Mr. Jim Laurent is a Big Brother that goes above and beyond in everything he does, whether he is working with students or advocating for BBBSSC in the community.  He has been a Big Brother for 3 years in the Decisions To Win (DTW) Program in which he has impacted the lives of several students. For example, he helped his student who was a senior find direction in his life. He helped this young man with goals of restoring his relationship with his father as well as helping him to find the right career path. 

Mrs. Beverly Morrison has been a Big Sister since 2006. Over that time, Beverly has been a Big Sister to ten young men and women of high school age. Beverly assists her students in connecting with resources both within the school and in the community to ensure that their questions are answered and their goals become a reality.  As one of Beverly’s students in the 2010 graduating class said, “Words can not describe what she has done for me and meant to me.”

Mrs. Rose Waters & Mr. Craig Waters are part of our Latino Mentoring Program and are matched with a brother and sister. They spend quality time with the siblings going fishing; visiting museums and swimming at the YMCA just to name a few. This amazing couple has also organized a car show  raising over $1,500.  They go to school to have lunch with the children; they practice reading and writing with them as well.  Both children are doing great in school.
